The Women in Jazz Combo 2020
Katie Thiroux, Parthenope Wald-Harding, Brenda Greggio, Gianna Pedregon, Zoe Harrison, Carmen Murray, Kellin Hanas.
The Next Generation Women in Jazz Combo is a small ensemble comprised of a select group of top high school women jazz players from throughout the world.
Directed by award winning bassist, vocalist and composer Katie Thiroux, the 2020 ensemble members were all selected based on set criteria through video auditions.
Our First encounter and then performance was this past January. Saturday, January 18, 2020 we had our first concert together at Berklee College of Music, David Friend Recital Hall.
We visited Berklee College of Music and worked with the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice under the artistic direction of Terri Lyne Carrington.
Our next concerts will be in Monterey in September 2020.

A Very Sweet Third Place in Monterey
I'We came back from Monterey proud of what we accomplished! We played 4 songs, one of them was my original, THE SHAPE and we got third place. We made the San Diego Union Tribune today, we are definitely making the news here in San Diego! w!next and edit me. It's easy.
So much to say!
This year started really well, I went to Reno with my big band from SCPA for Jen, we performed there, we attended workshops and saw many concerts, it was so awesome!
Then We went to Las Vegas for the Regional Festivals Essentially Ellington - Jazz Academy, where I won outstanding soloist award, this is a short video of when this happened and wow, it looks one of those vintage recordings but that's me a few weeks ago!
In addition to all these events, there was another event, I performed at Namm with a great band, you can find some pictures on my FB page.
There is more! In the meantime My Conservatory Ensemble got into Monterey Jazz Next Generation, one of the 6 finalists and we'll be performing there April, 5-6-7.
I cannot say enough how excited I am for all this but wait, it's not over yet! This is big! We got into Essentially Ellington, the most ambitious of all! we are among the 15 finalists, out of 120 to perform at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York! This will happen in May 7-8-9-10-11.
This is so incredible, All these events, all these achievements and this is just the beginning.
On A super cool experience was playing on stage at the Symphony. It was Saturday Feb. 24, first I met John Clayton, Jeff Hamilton, Christoph Luty, Larry Fuller and Tamir Hendelman who were playing that night for the Ray Brown and Oscar Peterson Tribute.
The feeling of being there with these great musicians and the excitement of opening for them was crazy.
I was very nervous but happy at the same time.
I played with Carmen and John Murray, it was awesome and we were fantastic.
Other thing to say, I love that grand piano!!!!
